Prepare your VAT throughout the year
Waiting until the end of the period to work out your VAT means risking a forgotten invoice or finding out late how much you have to pay. m2m.ma calculates as you go what you have collected on your sales and what you can deduct on your purchases. You can therefore see the amount to set aside before the deadline.
To begin, enter your scheme and filing frequency in Settings. The scheme, cash basis or debit basis, determines when VAT becomes due. The frequency is monthly or quarterly. All the calculations depend on these, so check your situation with your accountant before you start.
What the platform calculates for you
Choose a period in the Taxes section. Only the invoices relating to it are included in the calculation, including part payments. Any credit from the previous period is carried over. You get the VAT collected, the deductible VAT, the amount due and a statement of deductions that you can export.
A red badge shows the number of completed periods not yet declared in m2m.ma, so that you don't let one slip by.
- Suggested rates: 20%, 10% and 0%, in a list you can edit
- Cash basis or debit basis
- Monthly or quarterly period
- VAT credit carried over from one period to the next
- Exportable statement of deductions
Check, save, then file
Review the figures, alone or with your accountant. When you save the return, the VAT accounts are cleared in your books and the period is locked, which stops a late change from distorting an amount already declared.
m2m.ma prepares your return, but does not file it for you. The official filing and payment are then done on the DGI portal.
Points to confirm with your accountant
The rate that applies to each product or service should be checked in the General Tax Code in force. The rules can change with finance acts and may depend on your activity. The same goes for exemptions and for the deadlines that apply to your business. The platform gives you clear, traceable figures, and your accountant remains the right person to confirm their tax treatment.
